Follow-up Ultrasound

Our follow-up was this morning to check on the location of my placenta. I am happy to say that it has moved up and is out of the way! NO previa!! It's been marginal/low-lying the past 2 ultrasounds so I'm really glad it's moved! So that means hopefully no c-section!

Little Jace now weighs 3 pounds 8 ounces, so he's right on track. His heart rate was 155 and he had the hiccups when we tried to listen to his heartbeat. He has hair and he's in the right position, head down and face down. What I've been feeling constantly in my ribs is his butt and a pair of heels! It hurts!

30 Weeks!

It's hard to believe this pregnancy is 75% done! Wow! 30 weeks down, 10 to go! My belly has really grown in the past week or 2. It should have though because Jace should be weighing over 3 pounds. We'll find out how big he really is in the morning at our ultrasound! Here's my belly today. Excuse the awful pic, we've been outside cleaning out the garage!Pregnancy: 30 weeks
Weight Gain: down 5 lbs (as of last appointment, I'm sure I've broke even now!)
Sleep: Can't really get comfortable

Feeling: Good, my back's been hurting, and I think I have a foot stuck in my ribs!
Movement: He's slowed down in the past week or so but he still moves a lot, he's getting cramped in there! He's most active in the mornings right before I get up and at night, and he gets hiccups at least once a day.
Belly: Growing! Everyone keeps saying they can't believe I'm as far along as I am because my belly isn't that big. But it's definitely been getting bigger.
Next Appointment: Follow-up ultrasound tomorrow morning, March 30. Next regular appointment is Tuesday, April 6 at 31 wks 1 day

From the mouth of a 4 year old.

I am amazed sometimes at the things that come out of Avaree's mouth. I just don't know where she gets this stuff!

Yesterday, her Grandaddy was asking her when she was going to learn to say yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, and no sir. (She goes through phases, she'll do really well for a while and then she stops...) He gave her this long spiel about it, telling her that she'll be 5 soon and she should know to say that. When he was done, she turned and said "I didn't see that coming!"

On the way home from school one day last week, our conversation went a little something like this...
Avaree: I'm not gonna ask for a job when I grow up.
Me: What do you mean? You're not going to work?
A: Nope, I'm gonna stay home everyday.
Me: Well where are you going to live?
A: You know....with Gammy!
Me: Oh, well how are you going to pay your bills? And how are you going to eat?
A: We'll go buy groceries. When they're at work, I'll go buy groceries.
Me: What are you going to buy groceries with?
A: With my money.
Me: How will you have money if you don't work?
A: [she thought for a minute] Well.....Nanny doesn't work!!

Ha ha ha I guess she thinks since Nanny doesn't have to work, then she won't have to either. I told her that Nanny is retired now, but she did work for a long time.

And later that night when I was telling James about this, she decided that she was going to get a job. BUT--it was going to be somewhere that no one works yet, because she is going to be the boss.

To cloth...or not to cloth

That is the question.

I've really been considering using cloth diapers with Jace. It's more costly upfront, but it's a lot cheaper over the long run. I've done hours (yes, I'm serious) of research online. I even dreamed about cloth diapers the other night I've looked at them so much! There are so many different kinds of cloth diapers and it's really overwhelming. James is on board with the idea (probably because he doesn't do the laundry!). If we decide to use cloth, we'll still use disposables some too, mainly at daycare.

I'm leaning towards using one size diapers, so they'll last until we're ready to potty train (as long as they're cared for properly). They're adjustable and fit from about 10 to 35 pounds.

I ordered a couple of diapers last week from Kelly's Closet because there is a coupon for a free diaper when you spend $10. So I got a Flip One-Size diaper and it came with the cover and an insert. I like these because you can just replace the insert with a clean one when it's wet or dirty, unless the cover gets dirty too. But you can supposedly just wipe the cover out and reuse it again and again.

The free diaper was a bumGenius All-in-One. These diapers are sized but it's all one piece and you just take the whole diaper off and put on a clean one. It has an insert built in, but there's a pocket in the back where you can put another one in for extra absorbency. I ordered a small, which is for 8 to 16 pounds. BumGenius also makes a one-size diaper that I would like to try.

I also want to try Smartipants diapers. These are one size diapers (7 to 35 pounds) with inserts. I plan to order a 3-pack of them to try them out. These are more economical than bumGenius. Smartipants and Flip diapers have snaps and bumGenius is velcro. I feel like the snaps will outlast the velcro but the velcro seems like it would be a more precise fit.

Cloth diapering may not work for us but I still want to give it a try. We'll see how it goes in about 3 months!

Our Little Man at 28 weeks 5 days

We got to see our little man today at our 3D/4D ultrasound. It was amazing and we can't wait to meet him! I can't believe how big he's gotten. He is so cute and has chubby cheeks! I'm thinking he looks like his Daddy. He had one of his feet up by his head at the beginning and then he covered his face with his hands. Gammy said he was being shy like his Mama We loved being able to get a little "sneak peak" at Jace!

Wish List Wednesday

So Proud!

I'm so proud of Avaree. She is doing so well in Pre-K! (Besides talking during circle time.) She's been writing her name for a long time now, but she can spell and write her last name now. And she knows how to spell, write, and read her 13 sight words. These are words like in, go, no, at, to, be, and her favorite one, zoo. She said zoo is her favorite because there are lots of things to do and there are animals. She never has any trouble remembering how to spell or read zoo! She has homework every week. They usually send it home on Mondays and they turn it in on Fridays, and it's usually a worksheet to do each night. Today when we got home, she sat down to do her homework and she got the whole week's done. I told her she could wait and do some tomorrow night but she wanted to go ahead and do it all! I was so proud of her, and I think she was proud of herself too! Her handwriting is improving also, and it's much neater the smaller she writes. She'll definitely be ready to start Kindergarten in August. She just makes the cut off by 6 days so she'll be the youngest in her class, and I don't think she'll have any problems.

Third Trimester!

We're 27 weeks now and we've made it to the third trimester! (And right now as I'm typing this, I'm watching Jace move around in my belly!) It won't be much longer now. I had an appointment yesterday. I saw a different midwife since mine is on maternity leave until the end of April. I've gained 2 pounds in the past 4 1/2 weeks, so now I'm down 5 pounds. We went over the ultrasound I had 3 weeks ago. My placenta is still not up where it needs to be for a safe delivery. It was between 6 and 8 mm away from my cervix and it needs to be at least 2 cm. So she said that as of right now, I have a 50-50 chance of having a c-section. My next appointment in 4 weeks will be with the OB, since she will be the one to perform the c-section if it comes down to that. The follow up ultrasound is in 3 weeks so we will know if it's moved up any whenever I see her. Part of me wants to go ahead and schedule a c-section and not take any chances of any complications with the placenta. (I've kinda freaked myself out by googling. Note to self: DON'T do that!) I guess we'll see what she says and go from there! Here's my belly at 27 weeks 1 day:

Avaree's New Do

We finally took Avaree for a much needed haircut this evening. She hadn't had one in a LONG time! This is before:

The lady that cut it pulled back the front of her hair in a little knot and Miss Avaree loved it! (Daddy didn't! haha)
Gammy told her her haircut makes her look older, so later on Avaree said, "How old do I look? SIX?" She thinks she's something (as if you can't tell by the pics!)
