4 Months

Happy 4 Months Jace!

4 months already...that's crazy! Jace is doing wonderful and he's growing like a weed. He had his 4 month check up and shots yesterday. He was such a big boy. He took the rotavirus vaccine by mouth again and LOVED it! Then he had a shot in each leg. The first one he didn't even flinch at all and the 2nd one he started crying right when she pulled the needle out and he stopped as soon as I picked him up. He's such a tough little guy!

 He weighed 15 pounds 10 ounces (75th percentile), was 26.5 inches long (95th percentile) and his head was 16.5 inches (50th percentile). His doctor was very shocked at how big he is and said he is doing things that she normally checks for in 6 month olds. She also said he is perfect, which we already knew that!

We've decided to go back to Similac Sensitive (the Ready to Feed liquid). The Good Start was giving him a lot of gas and he was starting to spit up a lot. His doctor also gave him a prescription for Zantac that should help with the spitting up. It tastes awful though and he doesn't like it, so we'll see how that goes.

Jace is drinking 6 ounces every 3-4 hours, and 7 ounces before bed. We're also giving him rice cereal and half a jar of a veggie in the evenings. We'll probably keep doing that for another few weeks and then add a morning feeding. He's still sleeping straight through the night. He usually goes to bed between 7:15 and 8:00 pm and sleeps until I have to wake him up at 6:45 am to get ready to be out of the house by 7:20. On mornings I don't have to get him up, he will sleep until 7:30 to 8:30 am. He likes to sleep!

He is the best baby! I would have a house full of babies if they would all be like him!! He's been rolling tummy to back for a while now and we're working on back to tummy. It won't be long though! He will sit with support, and he loves it! He's nosy and he likes to see what's going on! He's also been losing his hair. He hardly has any on top anymore. I miss all that hair that he was born with, it'll grow back soon I guess though.

Jace is starting to wear 3-6 month clothes. I really need to go through all of his clothes and take out what he's outgrown (probably a lot!) and put in the bigger stuff! He is in size 2 diapers still (at daycare) and he is still in small cloth diapers. Some of them I've adjusted to size medium and they fit well. We will be starting cloth diapers at daycare next week, so hopefully that will go well.

Also, one year ago today, we found out we were pregnant and now we have a precious baby boy! This past year flew by!

Solid Foods

We started giving Jace solid foods last week (Sept 19). I think he is going to be a good eater like his big sister, he likes it all! Our first food was sweet potatoes.

 We did that for a week and then tried peas.

Next week, we will try squash. He eats after we get home in the evenings. He eats half a jar of his veggie and about 3 tablespoons of rice cereal. I've also been giving him a few sips of water to wash it all down. We introduced a sippy cup a few days ago and he's done well with it. He's still getting the hang of it, but he has sucked some water out. He's getting to be such a big boy!

Homework time!

Avaree has been having lots of homework (too much in my opinion for Kindergarten) and she loves it! She usually does it while I'm getting dinner ready and if Jace is awake, he will play in his highchair.

Similac Recall

Since our Similac formula was recalled, we've been having a time figuring out what will work for Jace. He's been on the powder form of Similac Sensitive. The ready to feed was not recalled but I prefer powder, it's much easier for on the go and you don't have to warm it. Although, we may end up using it. We are currently trying Good Start Gentle Plus. He is spitting up a lot, but he spit up with Similac too. He's been on it for 5 days and we are going to continue to use it until his doctor's appointment on Thursday. I plan on talking to her about it. One plus about using Good Start is that the daycare provides it. So if it works for him, we will only have to buy formula for when he's at home in the evenings and on the weekends. That will save a lot of money, but I'm willing to pay for whatever works for our little guy.

Catch Up

Since I haven't posted much lately, I figured I'd play catch up with pictures!

 Jace tried out his Jumperoo for the first time. He loved it! He stayed in it for over 45 minutes and I only took him out because we had to go somewhere!
