Weight Check
Jace had an appointment yesterday for a weight check since he hadn't gained anything at the previous appointment. I was so excited to hear he weighed 8 pounds and 10 ounces!! He's putting on weight now--11 ounces in 1 week!! Woohoo!
We had a visit from Nanny and PaPa this week. Jace got to see his Nanny again and meet his PaPa and cousins, Morgan and Madison.

It's been 2 weeks...
Jace is doing great! He had an appointment last Friday, he was still 7 pounds 15 ounces and he was 21.7" long (so he's gotten a little longer!). He is sleeping very well at night. We usually try to put him down between 9:30 and 10:30 every night, gets up between 4:40 and 5:15, eats, and then goes back down until around 9:00 every morning. He doesn't even take his paci during the night. All he really does during the day is eat, sleep, and pee, although he is starting to stay awake a little more. That boy is a peeing machine, and he does NOT like to have on a wet diaper!
He is taking about 3 ounces at every feeding, about every 3-4 hours. He sleeps on his side. If I lay him on his back, he'll roll straight to his side. He likes to nap on his tummy too. During tummy time a few days ago, he rolled from his tummy to his side. His umbilical cord stump is still attached, I'm hoping it'll fall off soon.
Jace is still wearing newborn diapers (although size 1 is ok, newborn fits better). The only clothes that fit him are newborn! I've tried on several things that are 0-3 months and they are so big!
We had newborn photos taken of Jace today. I can't wait to see how they turn out. Stephanie from Jaiden Photography came to our house for the photo shoot. She was great!! Jace was such a good boy during the 2 hours she was here.
I think I'm back to normal now, I'm 17 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight and I've been wearing my normal clothes! Time to pack up all the maternity clothes!!

1 week old!
It's hard to believe my baby boy is already a week old today! Jace is doing great and he is so sweet. We had a doctor's appointment the day after we came home, he was 7 lb 15 oz, and she sent him to the hospital to get a bilirubin level check for his jaundice. It was 11.3 so we had to go back the next day to check it again. It was 12.3. It wasn't high enough for phototherapy and we have another appointment this Friday to check him out. He isn't looking as yellow now, his pretty color is coming back.Jace doesn't cry very much, and all he does is sleep and eat. He loves to cuddle and be held but he LOVES his bouncy seat. We have to keep mittens on him because his hands stay at his face and he claws at it.
I'm doing great 1 week postpartum. I got on the scales this morning and I'm 15 pounds less than I was before I got pregnant. I had some cramping that got pretty bad (as bad as contractions during labor) but that's gone away now. I don't remember having that with Avaree, but they said it gets worse after every baby.
We are all enjoying our Little Man and can't get enough of him!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!
Our little man, Jace William, was born Tuesday, June 1, 2010. He was 8 pounds 1 ounce and 21 inches long.
We got the call on Memorial Day that we would be induced the following morning at 39 weeks 1 day. We had to be there at 6:15 am. We arrived at the hospital, got checked in and put in our room where we would be the next 2 days.
My nurse's name was Natalie. She was awesome and I don't think I could've asked for a better labor and delivery nurse. Around 8:10, my midwife, Nicole, came in and broke my water. I was dilated 2-3 cm, 80% effaced, and the baby was at -2 station.
Jennifer, Mama, Avaree, and Nanny got there sometime after that. Avaree was happy to be there, she was so excited!
Natalie started the pitocin at 9:00 and contractions were coming about 2-3 minutes apart. I needed something for pain, so I was given some pain meds at 10:22 and I got my epidural at 11. After that, I wasn't feeling the contractions at all.
Nicole came back to check me at 12:30 and I was dilated 4-5 cm, 90% effaced, and baby was at -1 station. I was feeling pressure now with some of the contractions. Audrey and Ashlee arrived, and so did Dawn. By 2:30, the contractions were bad again, Natalie checked me and I was dilated 5 cm and 90% effaced.
I was in lots of pain now, I downloaded a contraction timer on my iphone and was timing them. They were lasting about 50 seconds and were about 2 minutes apart. They were unbearable now so I got a re-dose of the epidural at 3:15, and an injection of more pain meds at 3:30. I started feeling nauseated around 4:00 and apparently that was a good sign.
Nicole came by at 4:45. I was 9.5 cm dilated, she could feel Jace's head and he was at +3 station. She said it was go time! I couldn't believe I had progressed so fast and it was time to start pushing! I got a little nervous as they got everything ready. Mama, Jennifer, and James stayed in the room with me. Nicole and Natalie were there and a nurse for Jace.
We started pushing at 5:00, James holding one leg and Jennifer holding the other. Jace William arrived 14 minutes later at 5:14 pm. He was absolutely beautiful. The first thing I noticed was how long his fingernails were. I held him for a while and Daddy cut the cord. I couldn't believe how big my baby was. I definitely didn't think I would have an 8 pound baby!
I wanted Avaree to be the first one to come back in, so James went and got her once Jace was all cleaned up. She spent a few minutes with him and then we let everyone else come back.
They released us on Thursday, and we got home around 1:00 that afternoon. Jace is such a good baby, he hardly ever cries! He likes to snuggle and he is a little sweetheart.
